(IntegrityTimes.com) – Former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has blasted an anti-Trump political group for using her name to declare support for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. The former governor of South Carolina stressed she had no connection to the “Haley Voters for Harris” group, which she called “wrong” and “deceptive” for suggesting her supporters should vote for the presumptive Democratic candidate in November.
Haley reiterated her support for former President Donald Trump, after formally backing the GOP’s presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention. Haley joined former primary rival and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in showing her “strong endorsement” at the event. Haley acknowledged that Trump’s views could sometimes divide opinion, but stressed that Americans do not have to agree with the former president all the time to vote for him in November.
Haley stuck to her guns against Trump long after other candidates bowed out of the race, and appeared to offer a more moderate alternative to Republicans disillusioned with the more right-leaning MAGA movement. On Super Tuesday, after bowing out of the race, she stated that the former president had to earn Republican votes in November. The Trump campaign confirmed in May that Haley was not being considered as a potential running mate, before Ohio Senator JD Vance was later announced as Trump’s vice president pick at the RNC.
Regarding the anti-Trump group using her name, Haley stated that she and Harris were polar opposites on all issues. Haley emphasized her support for Trump’s ideals that seek to make America strong and prosperous. A law firm used by Haley sent a missive, which stressed that the FBI and the Justice Department will be informed if the PAC tries to raise funds using Haley’s name.
Haley Voters for Harris director Craig Snyder dismissed the concerns. He claimed that, though he had not seen the cease-and-desist letter, the push to “suppress” political commentary was “absurd”. Snyder added that he would have voted for Haley and that he supports Harris, arguing that there are others like him entitled to such representation.
