NY District Attorney Declares ‘Above the Law’ Stance

(IntegrityTimes.com) – A shocking interaction between Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley and a Webster, New York, police officer went viral after body camera footage was posted online.

Doorley was allegedly driving 55 mph in a 35 mph zone when Officer Cameron Crisafulli attempted to pull her over. Instead, Doorley continued her drive home. Crisafulli approached Doorley as she exited her vehicle after pulling into her garage. She refused to look at him while remaining focused on her phone. She then handed her phone to Crisafulli and told him that the chief of police was on the line. At one point, she called Crisafulli an a**hole.

Another clip of the encounter shows Doorley berating the officer while recounting her stressful day dealing with murder charges. She outright admitted that she believed her job title excused her from following the law when she rhetorically asked Crisafulli if he thought she cared if she “was going 20 miles over the speed limit.” He explained that he was fulfilling his duties as a police officer for the city and that he knew she was fully aware of his lights flashing behind her. Doorley pulled the privilege card again, telling Crisafulli that she figured he would not have pulled her over after running her license plate. The officer explained that he only called out her license plate number to dispatch and that he continued to follow her because she would not pull over.

Doorley explained that she called the police chief to tell him that she was the one being pulled over and that she decided to just continue to her driveway. She added that she didn’t want to stop on the road at 5:30 in the afternoon. Crisafulli pushed back, pointing out that she knew that it was not her decision to make, to which she disagreed. She was ultimately ticketed for speeding and paid the fine after pleading guilty. Calls for her resignation came flooding in once the video went viral and New York Governor Kathy Hochul requested an investigation into the matter. Doorley then released an apology video and took full responsibility for her actions that day.
