RFK, Jr. Puts Foot in Mouth While Battling Censorship

(IntegrityTimes.com) – The Biden campaign has been giving Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s candidacy their full attention ever since he announced software entrepreneur and attorney Nicole Shanahan as his running mate at a rally in Oakland, California.

With Shanahan in the driver’s seat, Kennedy’s drive to get ballot access in every state will gain momentum.

One of the harshest blows yet to Biden’s campaign has been Kennedy’s accusation that the current president is a bigger threat to democracy than Donald Trump.

The Democrats have long used that charge toward Trump. For Kennedy to make that claim is heresy.

Kennedy said on April 1st on CNN that President Biden was the first president in history to have used federal agencies to censor his opponent. It wasn’t an April Fool’s joke. Kennedy was deadly serious.

He brought up his case against the federal government, in which he claims the government muzzled his anti-vaccine social media posts. The action was delayed awaiting a judgment in another case, but Kennedy was given a preliminary injunction in this one.

According to Kennedy, Biden started censoring him 37 hours after he took the oath of office. He said there has never been a president in this nation that has done that.

In his next move, Kennedy shifted his focus to a case involving two states whose Republican governors had challenged federal interactions with social media corporations in court. Without naming Trump, he said questioning election returns is not the greatest threat to democracy, it’s a president who uses the power of his office to force the social media companies to censor his political critics.

Some issues have been raised by Kennedy’s comments.

Firstly, in January of 2021, when an official from Biden’s office saw that Kennedy had posted an anti-vaccine conspiracy theory and reached out to Twitter about it, he was not Biden’s political opponent. It wasn’t until April 2023 that Kennedy announced his candidacy for president.

Secondly, previous American presidents have resorted to considerably more drastic tactics to stifle political opposition, as history demonstrates.

Thirdly, Kennedy is allowed to keep making remarks on vaccines because the legal cases he mentioned are still pending.

According to legal experts, the Biden administration’s attempts to have social media sites filter out hate speech are distinct from censorship.
