(IntegrityTimes.com) – Far-left radical progressive Representative Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., is attempting to save face over comments he made shortly after the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attack in Israel. At a November 17 rally in Westchester, New York, Bowman told a small crowd of pro-Palestinian protestors that reports of women being raped and babies beheaded were “propaganda,” and that no evidence had been presented to prove such claims.
On March 21, Bowman declined to answer Politico outside the House chamber when asked about his previous remarks, telling the reporter that his team would follow up with the outlet. Politico received a statement from Bowman’s team shortly after. He did not make any denials regarding his comments and said that “The UN confirmed that Hamas” had committed those acts. He noted that he voted to condemn Hamas when House Resolution 966 was brought to the floor and claimed that he would stand up to wanton violence every time it occurred.
The accusations against Hamas were reported almost immediately following the attack. Multiple Democrats spoke out against the violence as soon as it was reported. The Israeli government held a viewing session for foreign reporters to show them the violent acts against women and children during the attack. Witnesses also came forward to tell what they had seen that day, even before Bowman attempted to paint the accusations as propaganda.
A pro-Israel group called J Street, which shares Bowman’s progressive beliefs, withdrew its support after he attempted to single out Israel for the deaths that occurred once the country declared war on Hamas. Another factor that led to the group’s decision was Bowman’s affiliation with an anti-Israel activist named Norman Finkelstein. Bowman could be walking back his comments to try to win back lost support ahead of the November elections. His primary challenger is Westchester County Executive George Latimer. His pro-Israel stance and fundraising capabilities have proven he is a serious threat to Bowman’s campaign.
