Mechanical issues not fixed in past recalls have led Ford to recall tens of thousands of vehicles, raising concerns over vehicle safety.
Key Insights
- Ford is issuing recall notices for tens of thousands of vehicles to address incorrect repairs from past recalls.
- Affected models include several popular Ford and Lincoln vehicles.
- The largest recall involves rearview camera display issues, affecting over 49,000 units.
- Ford aims to resolve repeated issues to prevent further recalls, similar to those in 2024.
Scope of the Recalls
Ford Motor Company has announced a recall impacting many vehicles due to unresolved mechanical issues from past recalls. Popular models affected include the Ford F-250, Ford Explorer, Edge, Bronco Sport, Maverick, and Lincoln’s Aviator and Corsair. This recall comes as part of an effort to correct previous repairs that have failed to resolve issues, such as defective rearview cameras and malfunctioning control modules.
Among the most affected are the 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair, and 2020-2023 Ford Explorer models. These vehicles, totaling 49,399 units, are experiencing rearview camera display problems. The Ford Edge (2,290 units), Bronco Sport, and Maverick models (12,833 units) also face issues with their systems. A recall for Super Duty vehicles similarly involves nine units with faulty window systems.
A recall impacting 10,626 pickup trucks and SUVs was also recently reported by The Car Connection. These Ford vehicles reportedly have a trailer-brake software problem that may not have been addressed in a previous recall. The affected units include multiple 2021 and 2022 models.

Previous Recall Efforts
These recalls follow several prior efforts by Ford to address similar mechanical defects. Previous fixes for the impacted models under recall number 24V-267 were deemed inadequate, necessitating this latest move by the company. These are considered “incorrect repairs.”
Notice letters will be sent to affected vehicle owners in April, offering software updates or recalibration services at no charge. Owners can also contact customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or visit Ford’s recall webpage for more information.
Safety Considerations
The potential safety risks posed by these defects are concerning. The rearview camera issues may lead to blank or distorted images, posing a significant crash risk during reversing. Furthermore, the failure of a module to alert drivers of a low battery and window malfunctions that do not retract upon encountering an obstacle, further complicate matters.
As vehicle technology advances, manufacturers must remain vigilant in detecting and resolving defects before they cause harm on the road.
