AOC Condemns NYPD Dance Team

(IntegrityTimes.com) – Far-left radical progressive Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), D-N.Y., had a different perspective when she weighed in on the NYPD’s dance team. Most critics were blasting the department for failing to focus on crime reduction and law enforcement activities, but not AOC. She shared the video on X, formerly Twitter, of the dance team performing live on the local news station PIX 11. She captioned her post with “How many school music programs got defunded for this?” AOC was likely directing her comment toward New York City Mayor Eric Adams, as she has criticized his budgetary decisions in the past.

AOC was met with various comments regarding where her concerns should lie. One user asked her why she had a problem with the NYPD dancers since she prefers police officers “who don’t actually enforce laws.” Another user posted a meme asking how many music programs could be funded if the city was not supporting hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants. Most took this angle, with another user asking how many schools were shut down to house illegal migrants.

In April 2023, AOC slammed Adams for increasing the salary of NYPD officers. Multiple factors have led to a depleted department, including the pandemic and the side effects of the calls to defund the police after the killing of George Floyd in May 2020 in Minneapolis. AOC attempted to equate the risks involved with teaching to the risks involved with law enforcement because teachers deal with the same delinquents as the police. She conveniently ignored that police officers are out in the streets fighting crime with adult perpetrators night and day.

Over 170,000 illegal migrants have flooded the streets of NYC in the last 18 months, placing a massive strain on city resources. Robberies have increased by six percent and grand larceny has slightly jumped. The NYPD also reported an increase of 70 instances of subway or other public transit system crimes this January versus last January.
